General Goal: The Middle School Math Teacher will engage students in meaningful and challenging mathematical learning experiences that develop conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and confidence in mathematics. This role is responsible for delivering standards-aligned instruction through Algebra 1, implementing standards-based grading practices, and creating a classroom environment that encourages mathematical reasoning, collaboration, and perseverance. Scope of Responsibilities: 1. Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned mathematics lessons that develop conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills. 2. Teach middle school mathematics content and skills through Algebra 1. 3. Integrate real-world applications and interdisciplinary connections to make mathematical concepts relevant and meaningful. 4. Use rubrics and standards-based grading (SBG) to provide clear, growth-oriented feedback to students and parents in a timely and consistent manner. 5. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and support student growth and achievement. 6. Incorporate technology, collaborative learning, and problem-solving strategies into mathematics instruction. 7. Foster a classroom culture that encourages mathematical reasoning, perseverance, curiosity, and productive academic discussion. 8. Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment strategies as well as collaborate with Co-teachers to support a diverse range or learners. Requirements: Advanced / Native English Level. Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Valid teaching certification in Mathematics. Demonstrated experience teaching middle school mathematics, with the ability to teach skills and content through Algebra 1. Knowledge of standards-based grading and effective student assessment practices. Strong understanding of mathematics pedagogy and strategies for developing conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. Strong classroom management and student engagement strategies. Experience with, or willingness to adapt to, an IB MYP framework is a plus. Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement. Educación.
